Blarney Stone Castle

Rough Sketch of the Blarney Stone Castle

Beginning to add color.

Completed!

For my Viscom II class Sister Henderson brought in some models of the Blarney Stone Castle and the Vatican in Rome for us to draw from a perspective of our choosing and then, using colored pencils, color in the drawing as it is seen from that perspective. It was really interesting to dissect the colors that go into the drawing, for instance the color for the tower was conceived by using yellow, light blue, black and then white. It was difficult to outline a portion of the drawing by using different shades rather than using a black line to distinguish between trees/towers/walls. I gave the building (waxy) a different texture than I gave the vegetation (grainy) and I preferred coloring the vegetation more.

Chicken Noodle Soup with our Homemade Pasta.

With the left over pasta, my Grandma made our family spaghetti with the rest, my mom made me some homemade chicken noodle soup. It's always good to have a meal made by your mom after enduring college cafeteria food. The pasta tastes great, success!

Detroit Site

The Site
Amazing detail.
:)

It never to ceases amaze me how Detroit can change from being sketchy to being beautiful just by turning the corner. Here are some pictures of Paradise Valley.

Coach Insignia

Matt and I
Detroit from 72 stories up (620 ft)
The Decor :)
The Bridge, everything looked so beautiful!

For one of our last nights together over winter break Matt treated me to a lovely date at Coach Insignia. We enjoyed an ear-popping elevator ride and the incredible view of the river and Canada that brought us to the top of the Renaissance Building. The restaurant used to spin, but the owner decided that it wasn't worth the 1.5 million dollars to fix and $900 per hour to rotate so we just walked around the restaurant to get a view from all angles. :) I don't remember what we had for dinner, but I do know that it was DELICIOUS!

Making Pasta

Grandma, Mia and my Mom thinning out the pasta dough

My Grandpa with the drying pasta.

For Christmas my Mom bought my Grandpa a pasta maker (his old one broke) and our family enjoyed learning the process of making pasta from him. The pasta was really soft and smooth and it was interesting to feel as it hardened the longer it sat out. I can't wait to try it!
