Bake with Jake!

Jake with his steak
Me with the potatoes
My Mom helping with the twice baked potatoes

Jake and I decided that we wanted to make dinner tonight for our family so we went to the store and and bought all the ingredients. He maned the steak and I worked on the twice baked potatoes and asparagus. Dinner turned out to be a success with only limited help from our Mom!

Cake balls

Crumbling the cake
Finished cake balls!
I have heard that this cake ball recipe is really simple and easy to make although I am not so sure I could agree. In theory, making cake, mixing it with icing, and dipping it in chocolate sounds simple, but I found that it can create a huge disaster! In addition, the recipe that I followed forgot an important step that luckily Mrs. Baker (my Mom's friend) helped me realize: the cake balls have to be frozen before attempting to dip them in chocolate. Despite the amount things that did not go the way I planned them, the cake balls turned out delicious!

Riding bikes to Birmingham

Elliot at Quarton Lake
Me and my bike
Elliot with his first gelato!
I spent my morning with my dear friend Elliot going on an adventure and being spontaneous! That's what I love about hanging out with El, I never know what we'll end up doing but I can always count on having a great time. We had a plan of biking to Birmingham to Quarton Lake to have a picnic (pb&j, banana, graham crackers, and sweaty cheese sticks). On our way there this punk squirrel ran in front of my bike and then jumped on to Elliot's leg and got caught in his bike for a couple seconds. I was laughing uncontrollably, although Elliot didn't find anything funny. Eventually we passed my grandparents house and decided to stop by for some water and to say hi. My brother Jake was there working outside and we enjoyed talking to my grandpa and eating cantaloupe. Continuing our journey we went down a steep hill (wee!) and running around the park once and finally arrived at the lake. I can officially mark off 'ride my bike to Birmingham' off the list. We ate lunch in the shade and saw some really interesting birds. We biked along the lake and saw two of our co-workers, Nicole and Stephen. We fed some fish the remains of our graham crackers and saw a huge fish. We set off for home and stopped at an open house where a lady adopted us and pretended like we were her kids so that we could go look around. The bathrooms were super cool and Elliot left his number on the girls night stand. Then we went to a chocolate shop and ordered some gelato that was blueberry flavored and headed home. Immediately when we were back at my house we jumped into my pool fully clothed (another thing I can check off the list!).
