Better with you.

On our way to Matt's cottage we saw this little wiz driving on the highway. It only had three wheels, the covering is a plastic sheet, and the guy inside was wearing no more protection than a t-shirt. We were quite puzzled by this one.
Matt looking adorable with a lemon slice in his teeth at the French Laundry. Matt has wanted to take me out to eat here for years and we finally did it! It was everything he built it up to be, he ordered spare ribs with beans and potatoes, and I had the special of the day, salmon with potato pancakes and asparagus.
Our original plan was to catch a fish and then prepare it for dinner, but that turned out to be a fail because we were both too afraid to hurt the fish and cut it open. Since 'Eat a fish that I caught (and prepared)' is on my bucket list, I think we will have to wait until Matt's Dad is at the cottage with us to complete that one! This is actually Matt's beautiful catch, but he doesn't like pictures so I stepped in to claim it. It was raining while we were fishing off the dock, but luckily we were able to sit under the boat cover and continue our fishing. I was glad to spend time alone with Matt before he heads back to school for the winter.

The first weekend in August, after my last day at Mimi's, Matt and I headed on our way to Pretties Island in Canada to meet up with his family for a family reunion of sorts. On our ride up we listened to the audiobook, The Hunger Games, which is excellent and full of original creativity. After our eight hour drive, in which Matt drove most of the way, we hung around the campfire with all the young adults.

The next day was filled with outdoor activities such as kayaking, swimming, tubing, and disking. Disking is literally a wooden disk that you lay/kneel/stand on as a boat pulls you across the water. I really enjoyed disking and was happy to be able to stand up on it AND do a 360 while kneeling. Not only that but Matt and I started experimenting with the disking and eventually were both standing on it together!

The weekend was so relaxing, it was nice to be able to sit down and just read a book without worrying about work and scheduling lessons. In addition, I was able to relax with a nice cold beer since it is legal in Canada! Matt's family are so nice to me which makes spending time with them really fun.

The picture of the rainbow is actually from last summer at Pretties Island. When we were out on the boat we this bizarre rainbow that made a complete circle in the sky above us. It was something I had never seen before! The picture of Allie and Matt is from this year when the two of them were being super cute and making their Mom tear up from their act behind the boat. Love, love.
