World Financial Center
'The Bottle Opener' |
The weather was clear, and by weather I mean smog, making it a perfect day to visit the World Financial Center otherwise known as The Bottle Opener. The Bottle Opener is currently the third tallest building in the world and on the 103 floor there is an elevated lookout, or should I say 'look-down', point.
Walking off the elevator, which took 58 seconds to climb to the 103rd floor, the tall windows distracted me from the ground that I was walking on and I had a mild panic attack when I realized that I was standing on glass. The views were incredible and I gained a new appreciation for the Jin Mao Building seeing it from above--it was so intricate.
The top picture is a wooden fan that has each building carved out of it, a gift from my Uncle. We had a good time trying to guess which building corresponded with each carved out building on the fan.
Fun Fact: originally the trapezoidal opening at the top of The Bottle Opener was suppose to be a circle but it resembled the Japanese flag too closely so it was changed at the last moment.
